apparent supernova (mag approximately 17.6 +/- 0.4) on an unfiltered image
taken on Apr. 4.19 UT with the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 5' telescope located at Cerro
Tololo. The new object, which is also present at mag approximately 17.8 in
images taken on Apr. 5.18 and 7.01, is located at R.A. = 12h27m38s.47 +/-
0".1, Decl. = -8o16'39".3 +/- 0".1 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 2".8
west and 9".9 north of the center of the galaxy NGC 4433. Nothing is
visible at this position in archival images taken on Apr. 1.19 (limiting
mag 17.5) or on a stack of archival images taken between 2009 Mar. 12.22
and 2010 Mar. 29.20 (limiting mag 20.0).

SUPERNOVA 2010bj IN NGC 2357
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P. Challis, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on
behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that spectral observations of
obtained on Apr. 6 UT by S. Tang with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m
telescope (+ FAST), shows 2010bj (cf. CBET 2230) to be a type-II supernova.
Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova
Identification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024)
indicates that 2010bj best matches a type II-P supernova at a phase of
maximum light.

SUPERNOVAE 2010bm AND 2010bn
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Further to CBET 2225, M. Catelan, Pontificia Universidad Catolica de
Chile; A. J. Drake, S. G. Djorgovski, A. Mahabal, M. J. Graham, and R.
Williams, California Institute of Technology; J. L. Prieto, Carnegie
Observatories; E. C. Beshore and S. M. Larson, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory,
University of Arizona; and E. Christensen, Gemini Observatory, report the
CRTS discovery of two supernovae in unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS)
images:

SN 2010 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset
2010bm Apr. 4.32 11 22 04.65 + 9 26 44.5 18.3 --
2010bn Apr. 5.32 11 44 55.72 - 5 04 44.2 17.2 2".6 W, 3".5 S

SN 2010bn was not visible on a CSS image from Mar. 12.33 UT (limiting mag
17.7); the host galaxy of 2010bn is "2dFGRS N114Z227", which has a measured
redshift of z = 0.053. SN 2010bm was not visible on a CSS image from Mar.
12.25 (limiting mag 20.0). A spectrogram (range 380-900 nm) of 2010bm was
obtained with the SMARTS 1.5-m telescope on Apr. 6.1; cross-correlation with
a library of supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code
(SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows 2010bm to be similar
to the type-IIP supernova 1999em at five days after maximum light.
S. B. Cenko, M. T. Kandrashoff, and A. V. Filippenko, University of
California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a CCD spectrum (range
350-1000 nm), obtained Apr. 8 UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast)
at Lick Observatory, reveals that 2010bm is a type-II supernova; cross-
correlation with SNID indicates that it is similar to the type-IIP supernova
2004et at about 10 days after maximum light. A spectrum of 2010bn reveals
that it is a type-Ia supernova shortly before maximum light.

SUPERNOVA 2010bk IN NGC 4433
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

G. Folatelli, Universidad de Chile, on behalf of the Millennium Center
for Supernova Science, reports that an optical spectrogram (357-890 nm) of
2010bk (cf. CBET 2231), obtained on Apr. 9.1 UT with the SOAR telescope
(+ Goodman HTS), indicates that it is a type II-P supernova; cross-correlation
with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" code
(SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) shows the spectrum to be
similar to those of supernovae 1999em and 2006bp near maximum light. Adopting
a host-galaxy recession velocity of 3000 km/s (de Vaucouleurs et al. 1991,
Third Reference Catalogue of Bright Galaxies, version 3.9) for the host galaxy
(NGC 4433), H-alpha is measured to be blue-shifted by roughly 12500 km/s.

SUPERNOVA 2010as IN NGC 6000
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

S. Ryder and R. Covarrubias, Anglo-Australian Observatory; S. Amy,
Australia Telescope National Facility; M. Argo, Curtin University of
Technology; C. Stockdale, Marquette University; S. Van Dyk, Spitzer
Science Center, California Institute of Technology; S. Immler, Goddard
Space Flight Center; K. Weiler, Naval Research Laboratory; and N. Panagia,
Space Telescope Science Institute and Observatory of Catania, report the
detection of radio emission near the position of the type-Ib/c supernova
2010as (cf. CBETs 2215, 2221) with the Australia Telescope Compact Array
radio telescope. Flux density measurements were made at 9.0 GHz of 1.45
+/- 0.09 mJy on March 27.8 UT, and 1.48 +/- 0.08 mJy on April 3.7. Only a
3-sigma upper limit of 0.14 mJy at 5.5 GHz was measured at the earlier
epoch, but at the latter epoch a source of 1.40 +/- 0.10 mJy was found.
The measured position of the radio emission of R.A. = 15h49m49s.24, Decl. =
-29o23'10".0 (equinox 2000.0) is in good agreement with the measured
optical position end figures 49s.23, 09".7 (CBET 2215). The radio emission
has likely already peaked at 9.0 GHz but should soon start increasing
rapidly at longer radio wavelengths. Radio observations at the Australia
Telescope Compact Array are continuing.

SUPERNOVA 2010bq IN UGC 10547
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

P. Challis and R. J. Foley, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics
(CfA), on behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that spectroscopic
observations of 2010bq (cf. CBET 2241), obtained on Apr. 15 UT by P. Berlind
with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST), shows it to be
a type-IIn supernova. The H-alpha profile has a narrow emission component
with a FWHM of 1000 km/s. There is a narrow H-alpha absorption feature whose
minimum is blueshifted relative to the emission by 290 km/s, consistent with
a luminous-blue-variable wind. The H-beta feature is similar to the H-alpha
feature, but also contains a broader absorption component that extends to
about 6000 km/s blueward of the emission line. After correcting for Milky
Way reddening of E(B-V) = 0.023, the continuum of SN 2010bq is well fit by a
blackbody with a temperature of about 13000 K. At cz = 9290 km/s, SN 2010bq
currently has an absolute magnitude of about -18.4. Although there are some
spectral similarities to other luminous type-IIn supernovae (see Figure 5 of
Smith et al. 2010, Ap.J. 709, 856, for a comparison of several type-IIn
supernovae spectra), the current luminosity of 2010bq is consistent with a
more typical type-IIn supernova such as SN 1998S. Follow-up observations
are encouraged.

COMET 81P/WILD
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

T. L. Farnham, University of Maryland; and N. H.Samarasinha and
B. E. A. Mueller, Planetary Science Institute, report on observations of
comet 81P/Wild obtained at the Kitt Peak 2.1-m f/8 telescope during March
20-25. When enhanced by removing a temporally averaged coma profile
(Schleicher and Farnham, 2004, in Comets II, ed by Festou et al., Tucson:
University of Arizona Press, p. 449), images obtained with a narrowband
cometary CN filter reveal at least two arc-shaped features that repeat
periodically. It was determined that the interval of repetition is 13.5
+/- 0.1 hours, presumably representing the rotation period of the nucleus.
Observational coverage, spanning as much as 6.2 hours per night, is
sufficient to rule out any aliases of this period.

Vitali Nevski, Vitebsk, Belarus, reports the discovery of a possible
supernova (mag approximately 17.7) on ten unfiltered 180-s CCD images
(limiting mag 20.0) taken on Apr. 10.88 UT with a 0.3-m reflector + CCD.
The new object, which appeared at mag approximately 17.5 on Apr. 11.81, is
located at R.A. = 12h03m10s.95, Decl. +44o31'43".1 (equinox 2000.0), which
is about 19".5 east and 10" south of the center of the galaxy NGC 4051.
Nothing is visible at this position on a Palomar Sky Survey red plate
obtained on 1996 Mar. 17 or a blue plate obtained on 1990 Jan. 29 (via the
Digitized Sky Survey; limiting mag 21.5). The discovery images are posted
at the following website URLs: http://tinyurl.com/y2f8mwv and
http://tinyurl.com/y5h3rfb. Following posting on the Central Bureau's
unconfirmed-objects webpage, A. Maksym (Terskol, Russia) writes that he
imaged 2010br with a 0.6-m reflector on Apr. 11.819, yielding magnitude
R = 17.9 and position end figures 10s.90, 43".3 (UCAC2 catalogue). Maksym
has posted his image at URL http://tinyurl.com/y83bq2s. Also, L. Elenin
(Lyubertsy, Russia) and M. Schwartz (Rio Rico, Arizona, USA) report that
2010br appears at mag R = 17.1 and V = 17.7 on a CCD image obtained on Apr.
13.435 by Schwartz with a 0.81-m telescope at the Tenagra II Observatory
and measured by Elenin, who provides position end figures 10s.93, 43".6;
2010btr is not visible on Digitized Sky Survey images (no dates, bandpasses,
or limiting magnitudes provided).
A. J. Maxwell, M. L. Graham, A. Parker, S. Sadavoy, and C. J. Pritchet,
Department of Physics and Astronomy, University of Victoria; E. Y. Hsiao,
Lawrence Berkeley Laboratory; and D. D. Balam, Dominion Astrophysical
Observatory, National Research Council of Canada, report that a noisy
spectrogram (range 390-703 nm, resolution 0.3 nm) of 2010br, obtained on
Apr. 14.25 with the 1.82-m Plaskett Telescope of the National Research
Council of Canada, shows the spectrum to be similar to that of a type-Ib/c
supernova. Comparison with a library of supernova spectra using the
"superfit" matching program of Howell et al. (2005, Ap.J. 634, 1190)
indicates that 2010br is similar to the type-Ib/c supernova 1987K. Balam
reports that his CCD image taken on Apr. 15.21 yields position end figures
10s.96, 42".8 (offset 14".3 east, 9".7 south of the core of NGC 4051) and
magnitude R = 18.3 +/- 0.1.

COMET C/2010 G3 (WISE)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A. Mainzer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, reports the discovery by WISE of
a comet candidate (discovery position below), about as bright as C/2010 D1
(IAUC 9118) at 12 microns and having about twice the 12-micron SNR at 22
microns, making it easily the brightest WISE discovery in the latter band.
The coma is 25" in diameter at 12 microns and about 40" in diameter with a 20"
tail at 22 microns. W. H. Ryan, observing with the 2.4-m reflector at
Magdalena Ridge on Apr. 16.3 UT, puts the comet at R magnitude 18.4-18.6 and
remarks on a distinct coma and a tail in p.a. 170 deg.

G. J. Garradd reports his discovery of a probable comet (discovery
position below) in the course of the Siding Spring Survey with the 0.5-m
Uppsala Schmidt. The images had an FWHM of 5".3, whereas that of nearby stars
was 4".3, and there was a faint tail extending 10" to the north. After
announcement of the discovery on the NEOCP, A. C. Gilmore and P. M. Kilmartin
reported observations with the 1.0-m f/7.7 reflector at Mt. John Observatory
on Apr. 17.4 UT showing the object as having cometary appearance, with R
magnitude 18.7-19.1 and a short, bright tail in p.a. 355 deg.

COMET P/2010 H2
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Observations of an unusually bright asteroidal object (discovery
observation below), only 15 deg from opposition, were reported to the Minor
Planet Center yesterday by J. Vales, observing with the 0.60-m f/3.3
Deltagraph at Crni Vrh, Slovenia. The numerous follow-up observations
reported after the discovery was announced on the NEOCP soon made it clear
that the object was some 2.0-2.5 AU from the earth and therefore of absolute
magnitude H = 8-9. It was also soon clear that there were no recent
observations of the object in the MPC files, and R. A. Kowalski has confirmed
that it was not present (down to magnitude V = 20) in frames of the relevant
region obtained by the Catalina Sky Survey as recently as Apr. 15.4 UT.
Several observers, beginning with W. Ryan on Apr. 16.2 at Magdalena Ridge
(2.4-m f/8.9 reflector) and E. Guido and G. Sostero on Apr. 16.4 at Mayhill,
NM (0.25-m f/3.4 reflector), have indicated that the new object has an FWHM
consistently wider (by perhaps 10%) than nearby field stars of similar
brightness. R. Miles reports that observations on Apr. 16.5 at the Faulkes
Telescope South (2.0-m f/10.0 Ritchey-Chretien) gave colors g'-r' = 0.503,
r'-i' = 0.113 and i'-z = 0.116, suggestive of a cometary dust coma. A. Maury,
San Pedro de Atacama, Chile, reports the detection of a faint coma on a
60-min exposure (0.36-m f/2 reflector) centered on Apr. 17.3; and K. Kadota,
Ageo, Saitama, Japan, remarks that, although the object appears starlike,
16 stacked 60-s exposures (0.25-m f/5.0 reflector) on Apr. 17.6 indicate a
possible faint coma of diameter 1'.5.

Apr. 16.00831 13 39 25.17 +04 45 49.5 12.6 Vales

The astrometry obtained so far (226 observations), the following
still-very-preliminary elliptical orbital elements and an ephemeris are given
on MPEC 2010-H12. While necessarily uncertain, this and other similar
orbital solutions suggest that the object passed 1.2 AU (or perhaps
significantly less) from Jupiter in 1976.

L. A. G. Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, reports his discovery of an
apparent supernova (mag 15.9 +/- 0.1) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on Apr.
17.105 UT; it was confirmed on Apr. 18.143 UT at mag 15.8. The new object is
located at R.A. = 21h48m20s.22, Decl. = -34o57'16".5 (equinox 2000.0), which
is 9" west and 14" south of the core of galaxy NCG 7130. Nothing is visible
at this position in the Digitized Sky Survey (limiting red mag 20.5) or on
