SUPERNOVA 2010bp IN PGC 50706

F. Bufano, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico
di Padova (INAF-OAPd); M. Turatto, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica,
Osservatorio Astronomico di Catania; and S. Benetti, INAF-OAPd, on behalf
of a larger collaboration, report that a spectrogram (range 350-1000 nm,
resolution 1.4 nm) of 2010bp (cf. CBET 2240), obtained on April 17.12 UT
with the New Technology Telescope (+ EFOSC2), shows it to be a type-Ia
supernova around ten days after maximum. An expansion velocity of about
12500 km/s is measured from the minimum of the Si II 635.5-nm absorption
line, after correcting for the host-galaxy recession velocity of 2911 km/s
(Koribalski et al. 2004, A.J. 128, 16).

SUPERNOVAE 2010bo AND 2010bt

M. Turatto, Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica (INAF), Osservatorio
Astronomico di Catania; and S. Benetti, E. Cappellaro, and F. Bufano, INAF,
Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, on behalf of a larger collaboration,
report that a spectrogram (range 350-1000 nm, resolution 1.4 nm) of 2010bo
(cf. CBET 2238), obtained on April 18.31 UT with the New Technology Telescope
(+ EFOSC2), shows it to be a type-II supernova caught after maximum; assuming
a recession velocity of about 5900 km/s (as measured from the broad H_alpha
component), comparison of the observed spectrum with a library of supernova
spectra via the "GELATO" code (Harutyunyan et al. 2008, A.Ap. 488, 383,
available at https://gelato.tng.iac.es/login.cgi) shows strong resemblance
to SN 1993J at 16 days after maximum (Barbon et al. 1995, A.Ap. Suppl. 110,
513) -- but for the broad H_alpha absorption feature consisting of two
well-separated minima measured at 631.0 and 648.0 nm, respectively.
Also, a spectrogram of 2010bt (cf. CBET 2250), obtained as above on
April 18.39 UT, is that of a type-IIn supernova. The comparison of this
spectrum with GELATO shows strong resemblance to several type-IIn supernovae
a few days after explosion. A broad H_alpha component is also present, from
which an expansion velocity of about 4500 km/s is derived.

COMET P/2010 H2 (VALES)

P. Birtwhistle, Great Shefford, Berks., England, writes that observations
using a 0.40-m f/6.0 Schmidt-Cassegrain and identical exposures and
measurement settings indicate an increase in coma size from 26" by 24" on Apr.
17.1 UT to 38" by 34" on Apr. 18.1. K. Hornoch, from co-added R-band frames
with the 0.65-m telescope at Ondrejov on Apr. 18.0, noted a very strongly
condensed elliptical coma of 65" by 50", with the long axis in p.a. 55-235 deg.
A. Novichonok and D. Chestnov, observing remotely at Cloudcroft, NM (0.18-m
f/2.8 Newtonian reflector), on Apr. 19.3, described an extended 1'.0 by 0'.8
coma of integrated magnitude V = 11.4.
The improved orbit below, based on 356 observations extending to Apr. 19.6
(mean residual 0".2), taken from MPEC 2010-H26, confirms the general features
of that on CBET 2249, with the minimum distance from Jupiter in May 1976 now
refined to 1.0 AU.

a supernova in unfiltered Catalina Sky Survey (CSS) images:

Nothing is visible at this position on a CSS image from Mar. 16.46 UT
(limiting mag 18.0).

J. M. Silverman, I. K. W. Kleiser, C. V. Griffith, and A. V. Filippenko,
University of California, Berkeley, report that inspection of a low
signal-to-noise ratio CCD spectrum (range 350-1000 nm), obtained on Apr. 15
UT with the 3-m Shane reflector (+ Kast) at Lick Observatory, shows that
2010bu is a normal type-Ia supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of
supernova spectra using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin
and Tonry 2007, Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2010bu is within a few days
of maximum brightness and is at a redshift of 0.039.

SUPERNOVA 2010bv IN PGC 68345

C. Drescher, Calamvale, Queensland, Australia, reports the discovery of
an apparent supernova (red mag 15.4) by Stuart Parker (Oxford, Canterbury,
New Zealand), on an unfiltered CCD image taken by Parker on Apr. 19.755 UT
with a 35-cm Celestron C14 f/6.3 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope (+ ST10
camera). Drescher measures the position of 2010bv to be R.A. = 22h14m01s.89,
Decl. = -26o55'44".6 (equinox 2000.0; using Astrometrica software with the
USNO-B1.0 catalogue), which is 15" west and 31" north of the nucleus of the
galaxy PGC 68345 (= ESO 533-4). The object is also visible on images taken
by Parker on April 20.668, from which Drescher measured position end figures
1s.91 and 44".4. Confirmation images taken by J. Brimacombe (Cairns,
Queensland, Australia) taken on Apr. 20.779 with a 40-cm Ritchey-Chretien
telescope (+ U16 camera) also show 2010bv (no position or magnitude
provided). Nothing is visible at the position of 2010bv on a Digitized Sky
Survey image from 1995 Aug. 29 (limiting red magnitude 20.5).

COMET C/2010 H3 (SOHO)

Further to IAUC 9116, measurements by K. Battams and orbital solutions
by the undersigned for a SOHO comet detected by J. Ruan are given on MPEC
2010-H37. This Marsden-group comet was at perihelion on Apr. 19.9 TT, 11.6
days earlier than the prediction in the ICQ 2009/2010 Comet Handbook from the
assumption (MPEC 2004-X73) that C/1999 J6 = C/2004 V9.

M. Knight, Lowell Observatory, presents plots of the photometry of
all three objects at http://www.lowell.edu/users/knight/research/1999j6.html
and from the similarity suggests that the three are almost certainly one
and the same object. The uncalibrated data show C/2010 H3 brightening
from mag 9.0-9.5 at discovery to mag 5.5 at the final C2 observation on
Apr. 19.56 UT, while in C3 the brightness was rather steady at mag 7 from
Apr. 19.61 to Apr. 20.2, fading to mag 8-9 by Apr. 20.7. Knight adds that
these three comets are brighter than any other observed Marsden-group members

COMET C/2010 H4 (SCOTTI)

J. V. Scotti, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, reports his discovery of
a comet (discovery position below), slightly diffuse and showing a tail to the
west-northwest, with the 0.9-m f/3 Spacewatch reflector and CCD mosaic at
Kitt Peak. His follow-up observations with the 1.8-m f/2.7 reflector on
Apr. 20.35 UT showed a coma of diameter 4" and a tail extending 0'.75 in p.a.
288 deg. After announcement on the NEOCP, further follow-up observations by
W. H. Ryan at Magdalena Ridge (2.4-m f/8.9 reflector) on Apr. 21.4 confirmed
the cometary appearance and showed a faint tail in p.a. 290 deg.

(range 370-920 nm), obtained on Apr. 21 UT with the SMARTS 1.5-m telescope
(+ RCSpec) at Cerro Tololo, shows that 2010ce (cf. CBET 2258) is a normal
type-Ia supernova. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra
using the "SuperNova IDentification" code (SNID; Blondin and Tonry 2007,
Ap.J. 666, 1024) indicates that 2010ce is a week past maximum brightness and
is at a redshift of 0.06.

COMET C/2010 FB87 (WISE-GARRADD)

An apparently asteroidal object (first discovery observation below)
reported by WISE was briefly on the NEOCP in early April and given the
designation 2010 FB87 (see MPS 320849). An independent discovery reported
from the Siding Spring Survey (0.5-m Uppsala Schmidt) by G. J. Garradd (second
discovery observation below) as comaless but showing a possible extremely
faint 10" tail in p.a. 290 deg (on a stack of four images) was later placed on
the NEOCP. Follow-up observations measured by S. Foglia, P. Miller and J.
Wood from a 30-s CCD exposure by Wood with the 2.0-m Faulkes Telescope South
(also at Siding Spring) on Apr. 23.6 UT shows a soft aspect with a 15" tail in
p.a. 140 deg.

POSSIBLE NOVA IN SAGITTARIUS

Koichi Nishiyama, Kurume, Japan; and Fujio Kabashima, Miyaki, Japan,
report their discovery of a possible Milky Way nova (mag 11.2) on two 40-s
unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 13.2) taken around Apr. 23.782 UT
using a 105-mm f/4 camera lens (+ SBIG STL6303E camera). They used five 2-s
unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 17.0) taken around Apr 23.791 with
a Meade 200R 0.40-m f/9.8 reflector (+ SBIG STL1001E camera) to measure the
following precise position for the variable: R.A. = 17h53m02s.98, Decl. =
-28d12'19".4 (equinox 2000.0). Nothing is visible at this position on their
survey frames taken on Apr. 2.831 (limiting mag 12.9) and 16.749 (limiting
mag 13.1), nor on the Digitized Sky Survey from a red plate taken on 1996
Sept. 12 (limiting mag 17.5). A USNO-B1.0-catalogue star of red mag 17.4
has position end figures 03s.11, 19".0. A confirming image by Nishiyama and
Kabashima with the 0.40-m reflector on Apr 24.673 yields mag 11.6 and
position end figures 03s.00, 19".3. After being alerted by Nishiyama and
Kabashima, T. Yusa (Osaki, Japan) obtained a co-added unfiltered CCD image
(limiting mag 16.5) with a 0.30-m f/8.2 Cassegrain reflector on Apr. 24.660,
yielding mag 11.1 and position end figures 02s.98, 19".3.

POSSIBLE NOVA IN SCORPIUS

Koichi Nishiyama, Kurume, Japan; and Fujio Kabashima, Miyaki, Japan
report their discovery of another possible nova (mag 8.6) on two 40-s
unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 13.1) taken around Apr. 25.788 UT
using a 105-mm f/4 camera lens (+ SBIG STL6303E camera). Five follow-up 2-s
unfiltered CCD frames (limiting magnitude 17.3) taken around Apr. 25.796
using a Meade 200R 0.40-m f/9.8 reflector (+ SBIG STL1001E camera) yield
the following precise position for the variable: R.A. = 16h55m13s.16, Decl.
= -38d03'46".9 (equinox 2000.0). Nothing is visible at this position on
their past survey frames taken on Apr. 23.786 (limiting mag 12.9) and 24.757
(limiting mag 13.2) or on a Digitized Sky Survey image from 1995 June 4
(limiting red mag 18.0).
After the Central Bureau received the above report, S. Nakano, Sumoto,
Japan, forwarded two independent discoveries of this possible nova to the
Bureau, the first by Hideo Nishimura (Miyawaki, Kakegawa, Shizuoka-ken,
Japan) on two 13-s CCD exposures (limiting mag 10.5) taken on Apr. 25.763
UT with a Minolta 120-mm f/3.5 camera lens (+ Canon EOS 5D digital camera
mounted on a Takahashi EM100 equatorial telescope), with Nishimura providing
magnitude 8.3 and position end figures 12s.96, 48".1. The second report
forwarded by Nakano is from Tadashi Kojima (Tsumagoi, Agatsuma-gun, Gunma-
ken, Japan), who found the presumed nova on two CCD frames (limiting mag
11.2) taken on Apr. 25.738 UT using a Canon EOS 40D digital camera with a
50-mm f/2.8 camera lens, mounted on a Sky-Memo equatorial instrument;
Nakano measured mag 8.8 and position end figures 13s.46, 44".7 (uncertainty
+/- 5") from Kojima's frame.

SUPERNOVA 2010ck IN MCG +06-31-61

E. Guido, T. Puckett, and J. Newton report the discovery of an apparent
supernova (mag 16.1) on unfiltered CCD images (limiting mag 18.5) taken with
a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, AZ, U.S.A., on Apr. 25.26 UT in the course of
the Puckett Observatory Supernova Search. The new object, which was
confirmed at mag 16.0 on images (limiting mag 18.5) taken by T. Orff on Apr.
26.16 with a 0.40-m reflector at Portal, is located at R.A. = 14h04m11s.29,
Decl. = +33o18'22".2 (equinox 2000.0), which is 5".4 east and 6".2 south of
the center of MCG +06-31-61. Nothing is visible at this position on images
taken by Puckett on Apr. 12 (limiting mag 18.7).

NOVA SAGITTARII 2010 No. 2

Further to CBET 2261, W. Liller, Vina del Mar, Chile, reports that the
new nova was fainter than mag 11.0 on a pair of photographs (Kodak TP film,
orange filter, 85-mm camera lens) taken on Apr. 20.262 UT.
E. Guido and G. Sostero report that CCD images obtained on Apr. 25.4 UT
remotely with a 0.25-m reflector from GRAS Observatory near Mayhill, NM,
U.S.A., yield a magnitude of about 12.1 and the following precise position
for the variable: R.A. = 17h53h02s.99, Decl. = -28d12'19".3 (equinox
2000.0); a comparison between their image and a Digitized Sky Survey 1980
infrared plate is posted at website URL http://bit.ly/bH6fps.
H. Maehara, Kwasan Observatory, Kyoto University, forwards a report from
M. Fujii (Okayama, Japan) about a low-resolution spectrum (range 400-830 nm)
taken on Apr. 24.77 UT with a 40-cm telescope: The variable shows a highly
reddened continuum and strong H_alpha emission line; the FWHM of the H_alpha
emission is about 4000 km/s. The spectrum has been posted at website URL
http://otobs.org/FBO/fko/nova/pn_sgr_20100424.gif. Maehara adds that his own
CCD images obtained with a 25-cm telescope around Apr. 24.75 yields the
following magnitudes: Apr. 24.752, I_c = 10.21; 24.754, R_c = 12.47; 24.755,
V = 15.33; the object was fainter than B = 16.9 on Apr. 24.758. Maehara
notes that these features suggest that the object is a heavily reddened nova.
S. Kiyota (Tsukuba, Japan) reports the nova's position as R.A. =
17h53h02s.94, Decl. = -28d12'19".0 (equinox 2000.0), together with the
following magnitudes, obtained with a 20-cm reflector (+ Apogee Alta E47+
CCD camera): Apr. 24.708, I_c = 10.11; 24.709, R_c = 12.39; 24.712, V =
14.66.
M. Yamanaka, M. Sasada, and R. Itoh, Hiroshima University; and A. Arai,
Kyoto Sangyo University, report that they obtained low-resolution optical
spectroscopy (resolution 400) of this nova on Apr. 24 UT at the Higashi-
Hiroshima Observatory. The spectrum shows strong emissions of H-alpha and O
I (777.4, 822.7, and 844.6 nm) lines. The H-alpha emission is broadened, with
FWZI roughly 8600 km/s. The profile of H-alpha shows a double-peaked profile
with a blue-shifted component. Weak emission lines of He I are seen in the
spectrum. The H-beta line was not detected in the spectrum due to the high
reddening. The deep Na I D line absorption corresponds to high reddening by
interstellar dust.

NOVA SCORPII 2010 No. 2

Further to CBET 2262, S. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports an independent
discovery of this presumed nova at mag 8.8 by Yukio Sakurai (Mito,
Ibaraki-ken, Japan) on two 20-s frames (limiting mag 10.2) taken on Apr.
25.734 UT using a Fuji FinePix S2 camera and a Nikon 180-mm f/2.8 camera
lens; Nakano measured the position from Sakurai's jpeg image to be R.A. =
16h55m13s.07, Decl. = -38d03'45".3 (equinox 2000.0; probable error +/- 3").
Nothing was visible at this position on a similar frame taken by Sakurai on
Apr. 24.74.
S. Kiyota (Tsukuba, Japan) reports that he obtained CCD images with the
30-cm GRAS-001 (Global-rent-a-scope) reflector located near Mayhill, NM, USA,
yielding the following precise position for the apparent nova: R.A. =
16h55h13s.22, Decl. = -38d03'46".8 (equinox 2000.0), and the following
magnitudes: Apr. 26.307 UT, V = 8.55; 26.308, R_c = 7.75; 26.309, I_c =
6.92; 26.310, B = 10.18.
E. Guido and G. Sostero write that they obtained unfiltered CCD images
remotely through a 0.25-m f/3.4 reflector at the GRAS Observatory near
Mayhill, NM, U.S.A., on Apr. 26.4 UT, showing the variable at mag about 8.2
with position end figures 13s.17, 47".8. They have posted an animation
showing a comparison between their own image and a red Digitized Sky Survey
plate from 1995 at website URL http://bit.ly/axetYA.
H. Koberger, Vilaflor, Tenerife; and W. Vollmann, Vienna, Austria,
report mag 10.3 and position end figures 13s.16, 46".9 from a DSLR green-
channel image taken by Koberger using a 0.6-m reflector on Apr. 27.21 UT.
A low-resolution spectrogram with 100 lines/mm using the same telescope
on Apr. 27.199 clearly shows H-alpha emission in the nova spectrum.
H. Maehara, Kwasan Observatory, Kyoto University, reports that a low-
resolution spectrogram (range 400-800 nm) of the variable was taken on
Apr. 29.704 UT with a 25-cm telescope at Kwasan Observatory. The spectrum
shows H_alpha and H_beta emission lines with a FWMH of 4000 km/s. The
spectrum has been posted at the following website URL:

These features suggest that the object is a classical nova. CCD images
obtained with a 25-cm telescope at Kwasan Observatory yield the following
magnitudes: Apr. 29.680, I_c = 8.77; 29.681, R_c = 9.45; 29.683, V =
11.21; 29.685, B = 12.03.
Visual magnitude estimates: Apr. 27.154 UT, 11.0 (A. Amorim,
Florianopolis, Brazil); 27.692, 9.8 (Y. Maeda, Nagasaki, Japan; via
Maehara).

COMET C/2010 G1 (BOATTINI)

A. Boattini, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, University of
Arizona, reports his discovery of a comet on Catalina Sky Survey
CCD images taken with the 0.68-m Schmidt telescope (discovery
observation tabulated below), the object described as diffuse with
a strong, condensed coma about 40" in size, and a fainter coma out
to a diameter about 2' that fades into the background; the coma is
slightly elongated in p.a. 50-55 deg. After posting on the Minor
Planet Center's 'NEOCP' webpage, other CCD astrometrists have
commented on the object's cometary appearance during Apr. 5.2-6.1
UT, including A. R. Gibbs with the Mt. Lemmon 1.5-m reflector (four
co-added 5-s exposures at altitude 20 deg show a core surrounded by
'fuzziness', of size 16" x 23"), R. Ligustri (Udine, Italy, 0.35-m
reflector; sixteen 60-s exposures; 30" coma), E. Pettarin (Farra
d'Isonzo, Italy, 0.40-m reflector; elongated 10"-15" coma), F.
Castellani and C. Marangoni (Malcesine, Italy, 0.4-m reflector; 37"
coma and a 1'16" tail in p.a. 70 deg), P. Birtwhistle (Great
Shefford, Berkshire, England, 0.40-m reflector, bright twilight;
coma diameter 15" and tail 30" long in p.a. 65 deg), L. Buzzi
(Varese, Italy, 0.60-m reflector; stacked exposures totally 10 min;
condensed coma elongated in p.a. about 35-40 deg and extending to a
diameter of at least 60"), and J. E. McGaha (Tucson, AZ, U.S.A.,
0.36-m reflector; ten stacked 30-s exposures; 7" bright nuclear
condensation with a round 20" coma and a 10"-wide tail 45" long in
p.a. 40 deg).

J. Gonzalez, Asturias, Spain, 0.20-m reflector); 27.528, 11.3, 3'
(D. Machholz, Colfax, CA, 0.47-m refl.).

COMET C/2010 G2 (HILL)

R. E. Hill reports his discovery of a comet on Catalina Sky
Survey CCD images taken with the 0.68-m Schmidt telescope
(discovery observation tabulated below); four co-added 40-s
exposures taken in 2"-3" seeing during Apr. 10.45-10.47 UT show a
diffuse coma about 6"-8" across with a broad, diffuse tail about
8"-10" long in p.a. 200 deg. Four co-added 60-s follow-up images
by R. A. Kowalski and G. M. Hupe with the Mt. Lemmon 1.5-m
reflector on Apr. 10.5 also show the faint, broad, straight tail in
p.a. about 200 deg; additional images with the same telescope by S.
M. Larson on Apr. 11.44-11.46 show a 20" tail in p.a. 200 deg.
After posting on the Minor Planet Center's 'NEOCP' webpage, other
cometary astrometrists have also commented on this object's
cometary appearance during Apr. 11.2-11.7. A. Novichonok and D.
Chestnov (remotely with a 36-cm Maksutov-Newtonian telescope at
Tzec Maun Observatory near Cloudcroft, NM, U.S.A.) found an obvious
faint coma with diameter 0'.2 and no tail. W. H. Ryan and E. V.
Ryan (Magdalena Ridge Observatory, 2.4-m reflector) find a coma
and a faint tail in p.a. about 200 deg on R-band images. E. Guido
and G. Sostero (remotely using a 0.25-m reflector at the RAS
Observatory, Mayhill, NM) report that eighteen co-added 120-s
unfiltered exposures reveal a diffuse coma nearly 10" in diameter;
H. Sato, Ota-ku, Tokyo, Japan (also remotely using a 0.25-m
reflector at the same site) measures a 15" coma. R. Ligustri,
Udine, Italy (remotely using a 0.40-m reflector at the RAS
Observatory, Moorook, Australia) writes that eleven 180-s co-added
images show a faint 20" tail in p.a. 235 deg.

COMET P/2009 WX_51 (CATALINA)

A. Mainzer, Jet Propulsion Laboratory, reports that WISE 12-
and 24-micron images obtained on Apr. 2 and 3 of 2009 WX_51, an
apparently asteroidal object found by the Catalina Sky Survey (cf.
MPEC 2009-W76; discovery observation tabulated below), show a 25"
coma and a bright, fan-shaped tail extending about 50" beyond the
coma spanning from west-southwest to west-northwest -- appearing as
bright as P/2010 B2 was on the WISE discovery images of that comet
(IAUC 9115; so perhaps magnitude V about 20); unfortunately, there
are no ground-based observations of 2009 WX_51 since 2009 Dec. 20
(cf. MPS 305307, 306814, 307444, and 308762).

F. Colas, Observatoire de Paris, forwards a report by F.
Manzini (Sozzago, Italy) of an 18th-magnitude condensed fragment in
the tail of this comet, along with a fainter fragment, on Mar. 13.0
UT; follow-up images by Colas on Mar. 14.1 using the Pic du Midi
1-m telescope confirmed a single 18th-mag object some 6" from the
main nuclear condensation in p.a. 240 deg. N. J. Howes, Cherhill,
Wiltshire, U.K., reported a fragment of mag about 18 located about
3" in p.a. 240-253 deg from the primary component on Mar. 17 on
images taken through three filters with the Faulkes Telescope North;
his images from Apr. 12 fail to show component 'B', suggesting its
disintegration. E. Bryssinck, Kruibeke, Belgium, found a secondary
component 5".5 from the nuclear condensation in p.a. 258 deg in
eight images (resolution 0".5/pixel) taken on Mar. 19.397 remotely
with a 0.4-m reflector at the Tzec Maun Observatory in New Mexico.
Reports suggest that component 'B' was about 4 mag fainter than
primary component 'A'. The astrometry of this new component 'B'
from Mar. 17 to Apr. 9 has been included on MPECs 2010-F87,
2010-G14, and 2010-G70.

COMET P/2010 H2 (VALES)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As first announced on CBETs 2249 and 2253, observations of an
unusually bright asteroidal object (discovery observation tabulated
below), only 15 degrees from opposition, were reported by Jan Vales,
observing with the 0.60-m f/3.3 Cichocki reflector at Crni Vrh,
Slovenia; H. Mikuz writes that, while the discovery images show a
distinct stellar profile, follow-up images with the same telescope
on Apr. 16.84 UT show that the object had become diffuse with a
flatter profile than those of nearby stars of similar brightness.
The numerous observations reported after posting on the Minor
Planet Center's 'NEOCP' webpage soon made it clear that the object
was some 2.0-2.5 AU from the earth and therefore of absolute
magnitude 8-9. It was also soon clear that there were no recent
observations of the object in the MPC files, and R. A. Kowalski has
confirmed that it was not present (down to V magnitude 20) in
frames of the relevant region obtained by the Catalina Sky Survey
as recently as Apr. 15.4. Several observers in the day after
discovery indicated that the new object appeared slightly but
consistently larger than nearby field stars of similar brightness
-- with a coma becoming noticeable and growing in size over the
next several days. E. Guido and G. Sostero compared the appearance
to that of comet 17P/Holmes in the early phases of its Oct. 2007

The initial astrometry appeared on MPEC 2010-H12. The object
passed 1.0 AU from Jupiter in March 1976 (not May, as suggested on
CBET 2253). Revised orbital elements by B. G. Marsden from 636
observations, Apr. 16-24 (from MPEC 2010-H57):
